Acts 13:47 “For so the Lord has commanded us, saying ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

Today was a very relaxing, but a lot of fun, day. We got up and walked the 20 seconds to church and then headed over to the train station to head for Magdeburg. We decided to spend the day walking around to see the city. As we walked around we stopped for a lunch at McDonald’s. The kids were thrilled, and while I am not a huge fan of the food, it was nice to have a bit of the states in here in Germany.

After lunch we were going to head towards the Dom Cathedral and check out OttoFest (which would be best described as a renaissance fair), however as soon as we walked outside of McDonalds it was raining. Since we didn’t have any rain gear the kids started to get a bit whiny, but we all decided to power through and walk around town in the rain (it really was a beautiful day outside, even with the rain).

We went to the Cathedral first, and it was amazing.

After the Cathedral we decided to walk towards OttoFest to see what that was all about and we decided to skip it, given the rain and that everything was outside. We started to make our way back to the train station but decided to stop for some ice cream (and espresso for mom and dad).

One the way back to the train station we opted to have dinner in Magdeburg rather than have to worry about it back home, so we ended up eating at a Czech restaurant, which was very good and then back home to do showers and bed.

It really was a great day full of sights, laughter, and fun. Outside of the few bits of complaining about the rain, the kids were in very good spirits though we still seem to having difficulty with Anjali and Lucia getting along. They just can’t seem to get along and are constantly battling one another. It is a very big struggle as a parent to have two children not get a long at all—it is like they are fighting just to fight and it’s very frustrating and irritating. I wish I could find a way to convert to them that if they were nicer to each other, we all would have a lot more fun, but they just can’t seem to get this through their heads.
