Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

Today was fairly uneventful. We spent the day getting groceries and learning our way around Schönebeck, unpacking, and resting from a long week of traveling. We encountered patient people who helped us along as we stumbled through a basic conversation, basically a beautiful town with wonderful people. The pastor of St. Jakobi Kirche helped us through the basics of getting acquainted with the town, despite the language barrier—Google Translate has been invaluable! The Lord is definitely looking after the town of Schönebeck. We have been blessed by this congregation with their incredible hospitality and graciousness. This weekend will be a time for rest and rejuvenation for all of us as we gear up for KinderBibelTage ( or Child Bible Days—aka: Vacation Bible School) and the start of school for the children. Our apartment is wonderful with plenty of space, though significantly smaller in size to ours back in Madison. We have 3 rooms; a bathroom, and a small kitchen—It is absolutely perfect and larger than I expected. We have ample space with the kids sharing 1 room, but all with separate beds. The one thing that sticks out to me right away is the size of the fridge. I am so used to having a traditional American fridge (actually we had 2 back in Madison), but here we have a fridge that reminds me of a dormitory one from our college days. I really thought this was going to be difficult, but have found it quite wonderful; we don’t buy excess, we buy what we need. We are able to use the wonderful garden area of the church that includes a small play set with a slide and swing set, as well as a trampoline that the kids are on ALL THE TIME!! This is going to be wonderful experience for all of us and I am so grateful to our friend Chris who made this all possible!!
